Tortoise Bamboo Five Shelf Bookcase

• 39.5″L x 11″W x 78″H
• Five open shelves
• Tortoise bamboo finish, English style

“Tortoise” bamboo has a mottled, dark-on-honey finish that recalls tortoiseshell. Bamboo-style furniture became fashionable in England in the late 18th and early 19th centuries, during the Regency taste for chinoiserie, and has been a classic of English country houses ever since. The Silas brings that look to a tall, open bookcase.

At only 11 inches deep, these shelves fit where a standard bookcase will not: a hallway, a narrow living-room wall, beside a window or in a bathroom for folded towels. Use a pair to flank a doorway or bed, and mix books with ceramics, baskets and framed pieces.

• Dust with a soft cloth or brush
• Wipe with a barely damp cloth and dry right away
• Keep out of prolonged direct sun and very humid or very dry air
• As with any tall bookcase, anchor it to the wall
